The pteranodon fills the center of the scene, wings spread wide, beak open, gliding just above a stretch of water. Below it, two fish burst out of the surface in a splash, as if it had just dived toward them. In the background, a volcano puffs a thin trail of smoke between two round clouds, framed by bushy hills. Leafy palm trees line both sides of the drawing, and textured rocks, some topped with tiny mushrooms, rise out of the water in the foreground. The dino's body gives large, simple surfaces on the wings, easy to color from a young age. The ridged rocks, detailed palm fronds, and rippling water call for finer, more patient strokes.
