FISHING PTERANODON #18

The Pteranodon fills most of the page, wings spread wide in a steep dive, beak open as if about to snatch its catch. Just beneath it, a fish leaps out of a pond in a splash of water, caught mid-jump. Around them stand several palm trees with long curved fronds, a small volcano puffing smoke on the horizon, low hills, rounded rocks along the water's edge, and coiled ferns. This coloring page mixes large flat areas with fine detail: the membrane wings and the dino's belly fill in quickly, while the palm fronds, the fish scales, the volcano's smoke plume, and the scattered pebbles take more patience. A young child can stick to the big shapes, while a more careful colorist will enjoy working through the foliage and water, for a session of twenty to forty minutes. Coloring the wings and body first, before moving to the palms and the fish, keeps the finished areas from getting smudged. For this printable coloring page, print on thick A4 or letter paper (at least 160 gsm) so markers won't bleed through.
