This young triceratops stands at the centre of the page, head turned toward the viewer, mouth open in a smile. Three horns rise from its head: two long, curved ones above the eyes and a shorter one on the snout. Its wide frill, edged with small rounded points, carries oval spots that repeat across its back and sides. Palm trees, ferns with curled fronds, a few round rocks on the left and a volcano puffing smoke in the background complete the scene. The outline is thick and even: the body, the frill and the volcano's cone give large areas that are easy to fill in. The spots on the back, the curled fern tips and the coconuts on the palms add a little extra detail for a child who wants more of a challenge.
