This dino is caught mid-flight: the pteranodon glides across the page with its membrane wings stretched fully open from edge to edge, head turned forward, long backswept crest, and an open, smiling beak. Below, two clusters of palm trees frame a volcano puffing out a cloud of smoke, set among ferns with spiral-curled fronds and a few rocks scattered on the ground. The pteranodon itself keeps a bold, open outline: the two wings form large, easy-to-fill shapes that are forgiving for a young child trying a printable coloring page for the first time. The background asks for more care, since the fern fronds and palm leaves need to be worked leaflet by leaflet; plan for around twenty unhurried minutes to finish the whole scene.
