PUMPKIN STEGOSAURUS #9

A grinning stegosaurus stands on a grassy mound with a small pumpkin balanced right on top of its head. Along its back, every one of its rounded plates carries its own carved jack-o'-lantern, each with a different face - star eyes, triangle eyes, a wink. The tail curls upward into pointed spikes. Two rocks flank the dinosaur, each topped with two more pumpkins, and a row of four extra pumpkins lines the bottom of the scene, among a crescent moon, scattered stars, spiderwebs and bats. The outline stays thick and rounded across the dinosaur's body, leaving large, easy areas to fill on the belly and legs. The real challenge is the sheer number of pumpkins: fourteen separate faces, each with its own star, triangle or winking eyes, call for a fine-tip marker to keep them crisp. This coloring page suits a child already comfortable with coloring, for a session of twenty to thirty minutes. Working one back plate at a time, rather than jumping between pumpkins, keeps the many small faces from blending into each other. This printable works well in an orange gradient for the pumpkins against a green or pastel-orange dinosaur. Print it on A4 paper at 200 gsm so markers won't bleed through.
