PLATED STEGOSAURUS #11
The stegosaurus stands front and center on a pebbled path, its head turned toward the viewer with one big round eye and a smile. Large kite-shaped plates run along its back, and spikes point out at the tip of its tail. Small round spots cover its body from snout to tail. Behind it, a volcano lets out a puff of smoke between two hills, and the scene is framed by palm trees, ferns and scattered rocks, with a round-edged pond at its feet. The linework is thick and even, drawn for a young audience: the body, the plates and the volcano form large, easy-to-fill areas that are hard to color outside the lines. The finer work hides in the round spots scattered across the whole body and in the pebbles paving the ground, enough to keep an older child busy who likes to finish every zone. This coloring page takes about half an hour to complete in full. Since the plates stand out clearly from the back, each one can get its own shade to build a gradient along the spine, while the volcano's smoke stays in light greys to contrast with the sky. This printable coloring page holds up well on A4 190 gsm paper, keeping crisp edges even under markers that lay down a lot of ink.
