Three Parasaurolophus fill the scene: a smiling adult with a long, backward-curving crest stands at the center, flanked by two smaller young ones whose crests echo the same curve in miniature. All three stand on rocky ground scattered with stones and low ferns. Behind them, a volcano sends up a plume of smoke, framed on both sides by clusters of palm trees. The outline is bold and clean, drawn for young hands: the bodies of the adult and the two young dinosaurs offer large, easy areas to fill in. The real challenge lies in the oval spots lined up along each back and tail, which call for more patience than a flat wash of color. Expect around twenty minutes for the main shapes, longer if the spots and the volcano's smoke trails are colored carefully. Keeping the adult and the young ones in matching colors helps the family read as one group before moving on to the background.
