One clawed foot lifts off the ground while the other plants firmly, the tail curving upward to balance the stride. This young T-Rex holds its small arms raised, claws spread, jaws open wide around a row of pointed teeth. Behind it a volcano puffs a round cloud of smoke, flanked by two tall palm trees. Spiral ferns, a broad ribbed leaf and scattered round rocks fill the ground beneath an oval shadow. The dino's outline stays thick and its surfaces broad - belly, thigh, snout - so they fill in quickly; only the oval spots scattered across its back call for a steadier hand. The background raises the difficulty: palm fronds, curling ferns and the leaf's ribs break the page into many small sections. A child can stay on the body while an older colorist lingers on the foliage; this printable coloring page takes about twenty minutes from corner to corner. Since the volcano's smoke cloud sits right beside the palm fronds, coloring it in one flat tone first keeps the two from blurring together.
