The neck of this dinosaur rises straight up through most of the drawing, then bends slightly so the small head can turn to the side; a round eye and a closed, gently smiling mouth give it a calm look. Below that stretched neck, the body forms a big rounded mass resting on four thick, straight legs, each foot ending in clearly drawn claws. A long tail trails from the hindquarters and tapers to a point along the ground on the right. Palm trees with wide, feathered fronds frame the scene on both sides, and a volcano puffs a soft cloud of smoke in the background. On the ground, rounded rocks, tufts of grass and a curled fiddlehead fern fill the corners. The Sauroposeidon's body leaves huge open spaces almost free of interior lines, ideal for broad flat color, with only a few curved strokes across the belly and legs to suggest shape. The palm fronds, by contrast, break into many small leaflets that need filling one by one, which slows the pace and suits a child already used to coloring pages. This printable coloring page takes about twenty minutes for the body alone, longer if every palm leaf and stone gets its own shade. To keep the tall neck readable, color the body first and save the thin volcano outline and fine foliage lines for last, working carefully around them.
