One clawed foreleg is lifted mid-step in this scene, while the velociraptor's head turns toward the viewer with a wide, toothy smile and a big round eye. A row of small spikes runs from the top of its skull down the back of its neck, and oval-shaped spots cover the torso, legs, and the long tail that curls upward behind it. The dino stands on a pebble-strewn patch of ground, surrounded by broad palm trees on both sides, ferns and large leaves filling the lower corners, and a volcano puffing a thick cloud of smoke in the background. The body is built from a few bold, well-spaced outlines, so the main shapes fill in fast and suit younger colorists just fine. The oval spots along the back and tail are smaller and closer together, asking for a steadier hand, and the palm fronds and ferns add the kind of fine detail that keeps older kids busy. Plan for around thirty minutes to finish the whole page. Filling in the velociraptor first, before moving on to the palm leaves, keeps a young colorist from losing interest in a sea of small shapes. Save a soft grey for the volcano's smoke so it stands apart from the green foliage around it. This coloring page prints well on thick A4 paper, around 200 gsm, sturdy enough for markers as well as pencils.
