The picture shows a young stegosaurus in profile, facing right, mouth open in a wide smile with big round eyes. Two rows of pointed plates run from its neck to its tail, which ends in a few small spikes. Round and oval spots cover its back and hips. A volcano smokes in the background, surrounded by palm trees, ferns with curled fronds, bushes and rocks. The dino's body forms one large smooth surface with no hatching, well suited to younger children for this coloring page. The rows of plates and the spots call for a bit more precision. The background is finer work: fern spirals, rock facets and volcano smoke multiply the small spaces. Expect about twenty minutes for the dinosaur alone, more with the whole scene. Since the two plate rows alternate down the back, giving each one its own shade makes the silhouette stand out; the round spots read better in a separate color so they don't blend into the skin.
