The Spinosaurus fills most of the scene, standing in shallow water that reaches its ankles, dorsal sail rising behind its head. It turns its smiling snout toward a fish leaping out of the water, right under its outstretched claw. More fish swim further away. Palm trees frame the composition and a volcano smokes in the background between scattered rocks. The outline stays clean and fairly bold across the body, but the back is covered in many oval spots of different sizes to fill in one by one, while the sail and belly offer large, restful areas.
