π ABOUT LAMBEOSAURUS
Meet Lambeosaurus, the duck-billed dino with a super cool head crest! This plant-eater roamed North America, munching on plants and showing off its unique style.
Lambeosaurus was a large, plant-eating dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period. Its name, meaning "Lambe's Lizard," honors paleontologist Lawrence Lambe. What really made Lambeosaurus stand out was its amazing head crest! Imagine a bony, hat-like structure on top of its head, shaped like an axe or a helmet. Scientists think this crest might have been used to make loud honking sounds for communication, to attract mates, or even to tell each other apart.
These dinos were big, growing up to 15 meters long! They walked on two legs most of the time, but could also use all four legs when they needed to move slowly or graze. Lambeosaurus was a herbivore, meaning it ate plants. It used its duck-like bill to clip leaves, twigs, and other vegetation. They lived in herds, which helped protect them from predators like Tyrannosaurus Rex. Fossil evidence shows they lived in what is now Canada, the USA, and even Mexico!

π€ FUN FACTS
- β¨ Lambeosaurus' head crest was hollow inside!
- β¨ Some scientists think male and female Lambeosaurus had different shaped crests!
- β¨ Baby Lambeosaurus probably didn't have very big crests at all!
- β¨ Lambeosaurus could run as fast as 35 kilometers per hour β that's faster than you can ride your bike!
- β¨ They used their duck-like bill to scoop up lots of plants at once!
π‘ DID YOU KNOW?
Get this: Scientists believe Lambeosaurus could make loud, honking sounds by blowing air through its hollow head crest, like a dinosaur trumpet!
