Behind two facing dinosaurs, a volcano sends up a plume of smoke between rounded hills. The larger one, an ankylosaurus, stands on all fours, its back covered in oval plates and its tail raised, ending in a knobby club. Two small horns sit on its smiling, round face. In front of it, a small two-legged dinosaur opens its jaws, teeth showing, almost nose to nose with the armored one. Two palm trees frame the scene, with ferns, round boulders and a small puddle on the ground. So many individual plates on the ankylosaurus mean careful, patient shading if you want to keep the lines crisp, while the sky, hills and volcanic smoke give large open spaces that fill in fast. The smaller dinosaur, with its plain smooth belly, colors much quicker.
