This coloring page shows a young Parasaurolophus standing on all four legs, head turned toward the viewer, mouth wide open as if calling out. Small curved arcs rise above its backward-sweeping crest, which is dotted with small round bumps. Its neck, back and tail - arching down to the ground behind it - are covered in oval spots. Behind the dino, two coconut-laden palm trees stand against a sky filled with rounded clouds, while a volcano on the left sends up a plume of smoke. On the ground, ferns, spiky tufts and a few smooth rocks line a thin winding path between its feet. The linework stays round and fairly bold, leaving large open areas on the belly, legs and sky that are quick to fill in. The challenge sits in the smaller repeated shapes: the bumps along the crest, the many spots on the body, the palm fronds and the puff of volcano smoke. This printable suits children from about 6-7 who want practice staying inside small outlines, and younger kids can manage it too if an adult handles the spots. Expect 30 to 45 minutes for a careful finish. Since the oval spots repeat across the whole body, pick one color for all of them and lay it down first, before filling in the rest of the skin - it keeps edges cleaner than jumping between spots and background. For the volcano smoke, a light touch with grey pencil is enough to suggest the plume without darkening the lines too much.
