DETAILED TRICERATOPS #1
Spirals fill the wide frill of this triceratops, and rows of overlapping circles and ovals run down its back to the tip of the tail. The dinosaur stands on all four legs, head turned slightly toward the viewer with a calm, closed-mouth expression. Its feet rest on a ground scattered with rounded rocks and small puddles, framed by dense ferns in the foreground. Two coconut palms rise on either side of the scene, and behind them a volcano releases a plume of smoke under a few rounded clouds. The triceratops itself is the slow part of this coloring page: each spiral on the frill and every circle along the back is its own small shape to fill in, which suits a child who enjoys detail or an adult looking for a more absorbing printable. The palm leaves, rocks and volcano, by contrast, are large and simple, so they go quickly. Altogether the page takes around thirty to forty minutes to finish. Fine-tipped markers or colored pencils work better than broad markers here, since the small spirals and circles on the frill would blur together under a thick tip. This coloring page prints well on A4 paper at 120 gsm, sturdy enough to hold up under repeated pencil and marker strokes.
